Dried apple slices, Three.
Eureka is leaning against the wall, motionless, while Mischa is packing up her medical supplies. She says that they need to go as they are in danger, but Eureka dully says that she doesn't want to go back into the cave. After a moment of silence, Mischa apologizes to Eureka for not knowing why she is not doing well nor what to do to help her, only asking that she bear with it for now. Eureka shuts her eyes, exhausted and in pain. The kids run into the room to tell Mischa that Renton won't come out from his room, but they shy away when they notice Eureka, clearly scared to be around her. She numbly turns away from them, hurting once more.
When Mischa bangs on Renton's door, he doesn't answer, but Eureka doesn't pay attention to the scene. She only glances off towards the caves. Talho arrives on the scene and drags him out, loading all of the children, Eureka, and Renton into a van. As they head to the cave, Eureka slips and leans on Renton's shoulder before eventually sitting back when Talho reprimands him. Once they arrive at the cave, Mischa has to carry Eureka onto the Gekko since she is unable to stand on her own.
As Eureka is collapsed on a bed, she spots the kids peeking in on her. She tries to smile for them, but they run away from her, scared and nervous. Immediately, she weakly stand up and stumbles after them for a few steps before falling. Braced on the floor, she apologizes and says that something is wrong with her. Eureka asks if all of the children hate her now as much as the Nirvash does . . . Slowly, Eureka makes her way to the hangar, using the walls for support and falling several times. When she finds her way into Nirvash's cockpit, she begins to speak to Nirvash, "What should I do? Now, the kids also hate me. Why is it? Why did things end up this way?" Eureka glances at the Compac Drive in Nirvash and begins to reach for it. She goes on, "I guess I've changed. If things were going to change like this, I wish I hadn't changed at all." Eureka, then, slips and pulls the drive out which causes Nirvash instantly springs to life, changing his control colors. With that, the LFO races out of the Gekko and heads deep into the caves.
After awhile, Nirvash stops, having brought Eureka to a certain location within the caves. She climbs out and wanders towards one of the large pillars within the cave. When Eureka reaches out and touches the pillar, it changes from a dull gray to a bright, glowing fuchsia. Eureka is overwhelmed by this before falling against the pillar which turns soft enough to catch her, beginning to envelope her. Eventually, the substance wraps around her completely, sublimating her into itself. In another place, several red velvet curtains pull back to reveal Eureka with her hair loose then a bright, deserted landscape with plain, empty bookshelves that stretch on and on into the sun. As Eureka looks over the scene, surprised and confused, she recalls something important.
EUREKA: Oh, that's right. I was looking for a book. I have to find it. I have to find the book.
[She begins to run.]
EUREKA: If I don't hurry, the bus will leave without me. If I don't hurry, the sun will set. I have to hurry and find my book. If I don't hurry, the night will melt me away.
[She stops in front of a bookshelf that has a white book laying at the bottom most shelf. She kneels down to pick it up and open it, realizing that the book is blank.]
EUREKA: This is me. A book without words. A book with nothing written in it. This is me.
[The sun changes into a moon filling the same circular space as the sky turns to night. She looks up into the sky, up at the moon.]
EUREKA: There is nothing about me. I am nothing at all. I couldn't find who I am...
[She grows more upset as she goes on. The scene changes to her falling down in front of the bright surface of the moon.]
EUREKA: Melting, melting. I'm melting away. Scared, I'm scared ...
[She has a pained face, ready to cry.]
EUREKA: Someone... Someone, help me. Please, someone ... Someone, help me. Help me, Renton...
[She begins to cry. Then, a large hand sweeps out to catch her.]
Renton struggles to pull Eureka free from the substance that is wrapped around her, but he eventually collapses to the ground with her. Unaware of the situation, Eureka begins to speak to him, "I'm sorry. It's because I took the Amita Drive... This is what I deserve for doing something like that... Tell me... What's going to become of me now...? I... I... I'm sorry..." Confused and distressed, Renton begins to cry, wanting to help Eureka and realizing his own mistakes. However, Eureka passes out as a strange chain of events begins to unfold . . .
