As the crew works in the mines, Hilda, Eureka, and the children help to take care of feeding the crew. When the loud banging stops, the children becomes interested, wondering what could have caused it to stop. Maeter insists on going to see it, but Hilda says that she must ask for Eureka's permission which she gives. However, Maeter becomes upset when Eureka refuses to, pushing her mother to come along. Eventually, Eureka shouts at Maeter to stop which causes the girl to cry. When Eureka begins to apologize, Maeter turns to Hilda for comfort which upsets Eureka. Hilda takes the children to the cave while Eureka goes off to see Mischa for a check-up.

Upon seeing Eureka's condition, she goes to find Holland as Eureka rests while connected to monitors. Mischa talks with Holland about Eureka's condition saying that she doesn't have an explanation for why Eureka is doing badly, only saying the the mines or Nirvash are somehow stressing Eureka. She then wonders how long Eureka has been away from Nirvash, and Holland answers that it has been ten days; the first time that Eureka has ever been separated for such a long time from Nirvash . . .

After a few days, Eureka catches Renton as he is leaving from dinner, asking if Nirvash is doing alright. He invites her to come the mines with him to see for herself. As the travel up to the mines, Eureka becomes more quiet and eventually stopping altogether, unable to explain why she can't continue. A sound begins to ring out from the mines, and Renton explains that it must be Britanni, running off to go see him. As the Gekkostate crew listens into military radio, Eureka bursts into to explain that Renton was taken along with the Nirvash.

Once the Nirvash has been recovered and Renton goes off to his room, Eureka arrives to speak with him through the door. She thanks him for saving Nirvash. Then, Eureka goes on to explain that she thinks Renton ought to pilot it instead, since she can't do anything at the moment, and says that Nirvash would like that, too. She promises to speak to Holland to make him understand the situation, but Renton opens the door only to dismiss her words and ask Eureka to leave him alone. Once he closes the door, she pauses before quickly kicking it.

SKILL: Basic Training
Silver locket.

What you would expect, really. Eureka was trained as a soldier, even if she may have been given certain exceptions in her training, so this includes the physical as well as mental component of it. She does get a marginal leg-up in strength and endurance.

AO: 13. She's a Rainbow (15)
A pair of gloves.

The Gekko sits in the middle of the ocean on a bright night. Ao is sitting in Renton's old track suit, fishing with an empty can, while Eureka checks up on him. The line gets a strong bite, and he is pulled near the edge of the ship. Before falling off, Eureka catches him, asking if he's alright. Ao worries after her baby, and Eureka is surprised that he noticed. She says that the baby is six months along, a healthy child. As a plane flies over head, they watch it with trepidation.

Inside the lounge below the cockpit, there is a spread of rations. Eureka gives her thanks for the food, but Ao neglects to which earns him a quick slap and remonstration. He gives his thanks, and Eureka says that he's a good boy. They talk about how old Ao is as he comments on his first day of middle school going awry. Excitedly, Eureka interrupts him, ecstatic over how good the food is. Eventually, they talk about the situation between the two of them:

AO: Um... You should really ask for protection.
EUREKA: From Generati... You mentioned them earlier. Is that the name of this country?
AO: No, it's not a country...
EUREKA: Ah, right. This is Earth, after all. But it's entirely different from the one I come from.
AO: Mo—Eureka, what was your Earth like?

[She looks down, pensive and uncomfortable, before looking to him with a smile.]

EUREKA: Have you heard of Scub Coral?
AO: Yeah. We have it here, too.
EUREKA: No. There's a lot more of it. It covers the entire planet. People were living on the top of it. Humans and the Scub Coral lived together.

When she finishes, Eureka rubs a hand thoughtfully over her stomach which causes Ao to fall silent. As the situation between the military forces intensifies, the two move onto the cafeteria that is worn from age. Ao fiddles with the Compac Drive as Eureka explains the Gekko and the crew that once lived aboard it.

AO: The Gekko?
EUREKA: Yeah, it's the name of this ship. I traveled on it with many people a long time ago. We were all on a journey together.
AO: Was you, uh ...
EUREKA: Baby?
AO: Yeah. Was its father traveling with you, too?

[She blushes, covering her face with her hands in embarrassment.]

EUREKA: How did you know! Oh, no! But, at first, it wasn't like that. We were pretty much like children back then. He was a crybaby as well, and kind of useless...
AO: You didn't love him?
EUREKA: Nope... I did. Every bit of him.
AO: Um, and was Dad...

[He pauses, letting his question hang, as he sees Eureka looking out the window longingly.]

AO: Do you want to go back?
EUREKA: Yeah. I think Renton will come for me, though. But I don't really know where I am.
AO: Renton?
EUREKA: To research the cause of the disappearing Scub Coral, we purposely allowed the Scub Coral to consume this ruined ship. But while we were conducting this experiment, we were both caught up in this.
AO: Both? The other Nirvash?
EUREKA: You're piloting a Nirvash, too. Right? It's so weird. It looks just like the one Renton is building now.

Suddenly, Ivica and the rest enter the cafeteria which scares Eureka. Ao explains that they were who the pair called earlier as Ivica quickly goes to greet Eureka who does not remember him. As Ao goes to talk with Ivica, Eureka talks with Hannah about the condition of her baby. She explains what the concerns of the doctors are about a child born between parents of two different species as well as if her child would hate her for having been born in such a difficult position. Hannah quickly reprimands her, "Stop there if you really think so. You fell in love with someone and you're bearing his child. It's all because you wanted to. Are you just starting to worry about the child now? Shouldn't you just focus on how to overcome the difficulties?"

The conversation dies off when Ao shouts at Gazelle. However, this fight is interrupted by the JAF forces arriving on the Gekko. They quickly detain Hannah while Eureka is secured by Endo who is surprised to see her, clearly remembering her from another time. As Ivica and the others arrive to investigate the explosion, a fire fight quickly starts.

As Endo escorts Eureka away, he explains the situation between the Allied Forces and Generation Blue. He says that she can't trust them, and the Japanese are wishing only for peace. However, he stops when he notices Truth in the distance. In an instant, Endo is hurt when he protects Eureka from Truth. Ivica and Ao are quickly dealt with as Truth is intent of being the one to take possession from Eureka. As Endo shoots Truth in order to fulfill a request from long ago, he is crushed to death in retaliation. Eureka sobs and starts to cry, heartbroken at the disaster caused by her appearance in this place. She quickly makes to escape, falling through a hole into the Gekko's hangar. She readies Nirvash, saying that she doesn't understand anything about the situation, only that she has to protect this planet. The Nirvash launches as the two charge forward to stop Truth.

+ Oh, there are consequences of having children between humans and Coralians ...
+ Sure did hook up with Renton and is madly in love with him.
+ ... Sure did set-up Endo to get killed.

25. World's End Garden
Sliced loaf of bread, Five.

While in the hangar, Eureka asks Nirvash if it feels sad because no one is around to pilot it, likening it to the hole that she feels within her own chest. However, Nirvash remains silent even as Eureka asks it to respond.

Later, she is curled up in Nirvash's cockpit, calling out Renton's name.

19. Acperience 2
Dried apple slices, Three.

Eureka is leaning against the wall, motionless, while Mischa is packing up her medical supplies. She says that they need to go as they are in danger, but Eureka dully says that she doesn't want to go back into the cave. After a moment of silence, Mischa apologizes to Eureka for not knowing why she is not doing well nor what to do to help her, only asking that she bear with it for now. Eureka shuts her eyes, exhausted and in pain. The kids run into the room to tell Mischa that Renton won't come out from his room, but they shy away when they notice Eureka, clearly scared to be around her. She numbly turns away from them, hurting once more.

When Mischa bangs on Renton's door, he doesn't answer, but Eureka doesn't pay attention to the scene. She only glances off towards the caves. Talho arrives on the scene and drags him out, loading all of the children, Eureka, and Renton into a van. As they head to the cave, Eureka slips and leans on Renton's shoulder before eventually sitting back when Talho reprimands him. Once they arrive at the cave, Mischa has to carry Eureka onto the Gekko since she is unable to stand on her own.

As Eureka is collapsed on a bed, she spots the kids peeking in on her. She tries to smile for them, but they run away from her, scared and nervous. Immediately, she weakly stand up and stumbles after them for a few steps before falling. Braced on the floor, she apologizes and says that something is wrong with her. Eureka asks if all of the children hate her now as much as the Nirvash does . . . Slowly, Eureka makes her way to the hangar, using the walls for support and falling several times. When she finds her way into Nirvash's cockpit, she begins to speak to Nirvash, "What should I do? Now, the kids also hate me. Why is it? Why did things end up this way?" Eureka glances at the Compac Drive in Nirvash and begins to reach for it. She goes on, "I guess I've changed. If things were going to change like this, I wish I hadn't changed at all." Eureka, then, slips and pulls the drive out which causes Nirvash instantly springs to life, changing his control colors. With that, the LFO races out of the Gekko and heads deep into the caves.

After awhile, Nirvash stops, having brought Eureka to a certain location within the caves. She climbs out and wanders towards one of the large pillars within the cave. When Eureka reaches out and touches the pillar, it changes from a dull gray to a bright, glowing fuchsia. Eureka is overwhelmed by this before falling against the pillar which turns soft enough to catch her, beginning to envelope her. Eventually, the substance wraps around her completely, sublimating her into itself. In another place, several red velvet curtains pull back to reveal Eureka with her hair loose then a bright, deserted landscape with plain, empty bookshelves that stretch on and on into the sun. As Eureka looks over the scene, surprised and confused, she recalls something important.

EUREKA: Oh, that's right. I was looking for a book. I have to find it. I have to find the book.

[She begins to run.]

EUREKA: If I don't hurry, the bus will leave without me. If I don't hurry, the sun will set. I have to hurry and find my book. If I don't hurry, the night will melt me away.

[She stops in front of a bookshelf that has a white book laying at the bottom most shelf. She kneels down to pick it up and open it, realizing that the book is blank.]

EUREKA: This is me. A book without words. A book with nothing written in it. This is me.

[The sun changes into a moon filling the same circular space as the sky turns to night. She looks up into the sky, up at the moon.]

EUREKA: There is nothing about me. I am nothing at all. I couldn't find who I am...

[She grows more upset as she goes on. The scene changes to her falling down in front of the bright surface of the moon.]

EUREKA: Melting, melting. I'm melting away. Scared, I'm scared ...

[She has a pained face, ready to cry.]

EUREKA: Someone... Someone, help me. Please, someone ... Someone, help me. Help me, Renton...

[She begins to cry. Then, a large hand sweeps out to catch her.]

Renton struggles to pull Eureka free from the substance that is wrapped around her, but he eventually collapses to the ground with her. Unaware of the situation, Eureka begins to speak to him, "I'm sorry. It's because I took the Amita Drive... This is what I deserve for doing something like that... Tell me... What's going to become of me now...? I... I... I'm sorry..." Confused and distressed, Renton begins to cry, wanting to help Eureka and realizing his own mistakes. However, Eureka passes out as a strange chain of events begins to unfold . . .

10. Higher Than the Sun
Blue glass ball.

After hearing about a spot with good waves coming, Holland prepares the Gekkostate for a trajectory flight to fly over the atmosphere to arrive in time. Eureka, Renton, and the children are spending time in the hangar together when the warning for the flight occurs. Thoughtfully, Eureka tosses a barf bag at Renton saying that it will be a rough trip. When the Gekkostate has reached zero gravity, the kids are impatient to run free. The group heads to the ship's windows in order to see the planet that they all live on . . . Eureka looks uncomfortable as she looks at an impossibly large storm spreading over a part of the world, the Great Wall, but Renton is distracted from her troubled expression by the feeling of her pressing against his back.

Once they land at the wrong location, an old military base, everyone heads in their own directions. Eureka asks if Renton is going to go lifting, but she says that she wants to stay where she is when he asks about her plans. In turn, Renton says that he will stay with her because of zero gravity. She is confused about this reason, but she says that it is nice. While the kids sleep, Eureka tries to do some repair work, but Nirvash will not open up for her, only opening for Renton. As he goes on to help her with another part, Eureka covers his hand, asking Renton what she should do since her voice won't reach Nirvash.

Renton goes on to check the rest of Nirvash as he realizes her unease with the machine, but he considers the problem to be mechanical, not psychological. Eventually, Eureka comes to sit closer to him, looking at Nirvash from the same perspective, while appearing completely lost. Again, Renton is distracted by Eureka, drawing close for a kiss, but is immediately teased by Jobs and Woz about letting it all spill out. As he tries to make a confession, the two interrupt again, and Renton gives up while Eureka is confused by what Renton is supposed to say.

After the check, Renton and Eureka watch the sunrise together until a bird lands in Renton's hair which makes Eureka laugh. The children come up to check out the bird, but it flies off to join a group to sky fish.

+ This is Nirvash's rejection of Eureka immediately after Ciudades del Cielo. She does not react well to this turn of events, and it continues to plague her for the rest of the season.

Teacup, Infinite.

On a clear, blue day, Nirvash and Eureka appear in the skies above Iwato. After Nirvash bails Eureka out, she falls into the sea and is rescued by a nearby fisherman. When she is brought to shore, Dr. Fukai works quickly to save her life. The appearance of a woman with blue hair does not go unnoticed by the island, though.

Later on, American forces come to the island to investigate the appearance of an "alien". Dr. Fukai refuses to let them near Eureka which allows her stay at the island for awhile . . .

3. Motion Blue
Hourglass, Three uses.

Holland finds out what the situation is with the Gekkostate, and he tells Eureka that they are already too late, though he isn't bothered by that fact. As he goes to read the waves, Eureka says that she would like to and leads Renton forcefully out to do so. Eureka teaches Renton how to, then comments that Renton is amusing, like one of her kids. Renton frets over the comment, musing out loud that he doesn't know her name, which Eureka helpfully gives him. She asks for his name, then she says that she hasn't met someone like him in awhile. She says she met someone very like him awhile ago, and that he is very similar to that person.

With a plan in mind, Holland explains the details to Eureka; he is planning to do a drop-in on the Gekkostate. Meanwhile, Talho is concerned about the Amita Drive, and Holland gives Renton instructions to remove the device if anything happens. Still, Holland is certain that nothing will happen. As Holland sets off, Eureka says that Holland is mysterious, and she can't be certain what he's going to do. However, for that reason, she can believe in him.

Eureka and Renton take off as planned, and Eureka is ecstatic with how much better the Nirvash feels. She gleefully invites Nirvash to a dance as they fly. When they get closer to the time for the mission, Renton questions where Eureka's back-up is, and she says that she doesn't need any as they would only get in the way. Because she can't trust in anyone but Holland or Nirvash, it is what she always does. With that, she quickly dispatches the units that are blocking Gekkostate's means of escape.

As they go to join the rest, Renton sees a huge bloom of salt. Eureka asks if Renton remembers what had happened before, during the Seven Swell, and she quietly realizes that he doesn't when he is confused by the question. Once they arrive, Renton is scrutinized by the crew before Eureka appears to ask Renton to stay near the Nirvash, saying that she wants to believe in him. The exchange is interrupted when Eureka runs off to answer her children's calls, and she introduces the group before going off with them.

13. AO: She's a Rainbow (10)
Snake fang, Three uses.

As Eureka heads toward a battle with the Nirvash along with Japanese forces she introduces herself to one of the mercenaries, Ivica Tanovich. This earns him jeers from the rest of the soldiers which he quickly yells at. Eureka goes on to say that she met him before, which confuses Ivica as he heard that she landed in Okinawa two years ago. She says that it was much longer ago that they met when she came "here" once before. With that, she quietly looks on to a Japanese soldier, Endou.

When Endou takes a picture of Eureka, she tells him that she has a son. A two year old, trouble-maker. She asks him to take care of him if anything should happen to her . . .

While the forces try to subdue the Secret, Eureka works with the Nirvash to remove the quartz. The situation becomes dire, so Eureka abandons the Nirvash, leaving it to fight off the Secret on its own. She activates the quartz, apologizing to Ao, before she disappears into a beam of light while guiding the quartz to another time and place.

27. Helter Skelter
Nettle tea, Ten uses.

During a tense time on the Gekkostate, Renton, Eureka, and the children are locked in the brig. Moondoggie brings the group bullet-proofs vests and gas masks along with a gun for Eureka to use.

Eventually, in a quiet hour, the ship is rocked by an attack by a drone ship which allows Ray and Charles to sneak in. Talho instructs Eureka and Renton to stay put as the rest of the ship gets ready for close engagement with the two through intercom. As they all sit in the dark, not knowing what is happening, Renton admits that he is uneasy when Eureka asks. She replies that she isn't, because she is together with Renton. She goes on, "I feel like I can overcome anything when I'm together with you, Renton."

When Talho arrives to guide the group to safety, Ray appears and holds Talho at gunpoint. However, when she sees Eureka with the children, she immediately changes tactics, instead holding Eureka at gunpoint. Renton holds up his own gun in turn, pleading with her to stop. Incensed, Ray says that Renton doesn't know anything about what the children call "mama", what "that thing" is. He continues to tearfully plead with her to let all of them go.

As Holland and Charles have a fire fight in the docks, Nirvash wildly moves of its own volition when it senses that Eureka is in danger as Ray's shot goes astray, nearly hitting Eureka. Holland comes to Ray who has been captured and says that he killed Charles. As Talho, Holland, Renton, and Ray go to see Charles, Eureka stays behind with the children. The battle is not over, however; Ray detonates a bomb within Charles to escape.

31. Animal Attack
Strawberry tart, Three uses.
After a meal, Eureka and Renton are washing dishes together. He says that the scrambled eggs she made were delicious, and Eureka thanks him with a blush before leaning gently against him.

EUREKA: I like being here like this with you.
RENTON: Really?!
EUREKA starts to cry as she thinks about Ciudades del Cielo.
EUREKA: When I'm with you, I feel like I can forget that my hands are stained with blood.
RENTON: Eureka ...
EUREKA: Being like this makes me happy. Because I can forget. About the past, about what I've done.
RENTON: Eureka.
EUREKA: And about how I've stained your hands as well.
RENTON: It's okay.
EUREKA: No, it's not! It's not okay!

Renton puts his hands on Eureka's shoulders and moves in for a kiss which Eureka suddenly rushes from when she says that Nirvash is mad. She goes on to explain that Nirvash wants to be accepted as it is and in the way it has grown. As Morita explains the situation then Jobs goes onto explain who Dr. Bear is with regards to his research on archetypes, Renton takes notice of a large man having tea with Gonzy. Dr. Bear skips over to Mischa after giving Jobs some candy, but Mischa quickly stops him by explaining that they are separated (as they were once married). He comments on how much Eureka has changed before inviting everyone to his lab.

Once there, Dr. Bear shows them a disc before quickly going into a tangent about communication and human history . . .

GREG: Know what this is? It's the first message our ancestors sent into space from their home planet, Earth. It's a reprint of the Voyager. Primitive, isn't it? Yet at the time, it was cutting-edge technology.
HOLLAND: We didn't come here for a history lesson.
GREG: What I'm saying is that maybe Eureka is like the Voyager. A message from the Scub Coral.
MISCHA: Another theory about the Scub Coral being intelligent life? Greg, how many times have I told you ... Even if the Scub Coral is intelligent life, there are too many discrepancies.
GREG: Well, let's drop this. I don't want to fight. To Eureka: What do you know?
EUREKA: Nothing.
GREG: That's right. You were probably sent without being informed of anything. Or rather not knowing anything might itself be the message. That they don't know anything about us. Nothing at all.
HOLLAND: So, you're saying the message is a blank sheet?
GREG: Exactly! And we're free to write whatever we want on it. What have you written? Love? Hatred? Is it really possible for so many sentient life forms to coexist on this planet? Can we live together with the Scub Coral?
RENTON: What's going to happen?
GREG: The world ... May be destroyed. But, yeah, I don't really know myself. There's just not enough data here! If I could access a server with all the information on humanity, I'd be able to figure out even more!

Eventually, Dr. Bear comes to focus on the issue of Nirvash. When he says that the repairs are incorrect as they are, Renton glances at Eureka which causes her to blush. (He understands that Dr. Bear and Eureka are speaking the same about Nirvash. With that, he determines that a new form in the shape of a plane fits with Nirvash's desire to fly. He then asks Eureka if she would like to fly as well.

Later on, Renton comments on how different Nirvash is now, but Eureka replies that Nirvash is still Nirvash even with those changes. She says that he's happy. Renton realizes that the team isn't working on a new board for Nirvash, and Morita explains that they aren't skilled enough to, having passed the job onto the best retired mechanic there is, Axel Thurston. During this, a missile from space sinks beneath the crust of the Earth which causes Coralians appear, painfully overwhelming Eureka. She can only numbly reply that, "They're coming." While everyone discusses what to do about the situation, Eureka only cowers in pain from the sudden attack.

30. Change of Life
Jungle slime.

With Nirvash still in a poor shape, the crew of the Gekkostate prepare to takeover the Tresor laboratories in order to have the typeZERO fixed. They cover up the bridge, prepare assault weapons, and are ready to take hostages, but Jobs, Woz, and Renton all agree that the scientists would be happy to work on the KLF that they created and won't have to be forced. (Interestingly, Renton says the Nirvash was born, not made.) When Morita observes how the Nirvash has changed and is asked to fix it, he shoots back that a fugitive of the military like Holland doesn't have a right to make demands. In unison, Eureka and Renton plead with him to help Nirvash, and Hilda says that everything will be fine once she falsifies documents to keep the military from realizing where they are.

Nirvash is quickly stripped out of the outdated cowling in order to design a new one, and Eureka says that feels sorry that Nirvash is naked like that. Renton quickly reminds her that the scientists are people that they can trust, and they will take good care of Nirvash. While they talk, a woman enters, and Eureka is pleased to see an old friend, Sonia, who was part of the team that worked with Eureka when she was discovered. As they look over the bare Nirvash with Mischa, Eureka points out the pocket on Nirvash's back and Renton quickly realizes that it is an unsaid suggestion to design two cockpits. This causes Sonia to wonder aloud on some of the mysteries around Nirvash, such as why it exists in a human form and why it alone was discovered with two cockpits unlike other archetypes. She says that it would be nice if Eureka could answer those questions, but Eureka apologizes since she doesn't remember anything before her discovery. Sonia then mentions that the chief, Morita, put together a movie of Eureka and Nirvash's time at Tresor and asks if they would like to see it.

In a private movie theater, Eureka and Renton watch a dated film about Eureka and Nirvash. It shows: The cavern where Eureka was discovered and Nirvash was waiting to be excavated; Dr. Bear, Adrock, and Morita with the unmined Nirvash archetype; the discover of how to manipulate Nirvash; the development of the mechanical body of Nirvash as well as the failure of a human pilot to manipulate it; Eureka's uncanny ability to pilot the Nirvash; the use of trapar and the popular sport of lifting to give the Nirvash greater agility and speed; Axel developing a board for the Nirvash at his garage; and, lastly, Eureka and Nirvash's first flight. Eureka in the present time comments that she does remember that flight.

Maeter and Linck sneak into the theatre, and Eureka quickly asks after where Maurice is. They reply that Maurice has been weird, avoiding looking at Eureka. When she leaves to find him, she sees that he is with Stoner, learning how to take pictures with a camera. She is content to leave him to the older man despite her panic earlier, then she notices Talho on the rooftop with her in a new set of clothes with her hair cut. In a daze, Eureka comments that Talho has changed to which she replies that she only returned to who she was. After Talho explains that she hasn't changed, only returning to the past with the same thoughts and feelings, Eureka remains adamant that Talho has changed just like she has. She goes on to say that they shouldn't be afraid of that change. Talho gives up, saying that she can't win against Eureka and she is jealous of the girl.

After some consideration, Eureka places her hat in the trash with flowers, like Talho did. As old techno music begins to blare over the sound system and development starts on Nirvash, Eureka comments that he's happy and that Nirvash can change just like how she did.

In a half-state, Eureka appears in front of Ao on the wrecked Gekko. Ao realizes that she recognizes him and rushes for her, but ends up passing through her. He tearfully pleads with the mother that remembers him:

EUREKA: Ao ... My Ao ...
AO: Mom! ... Mom!
EUREKA: Ao, return me to where I belong ... To where Renton is. You're the only one who can do that.
AO: I don't want to! I finally got to meet you! I've been looking for you all this time!
EUREKA: Please, something terrible is about to happen.
AO: Something terrible?

28. Memento Mori
Oversized snowflake, Unlimited uses.

After Charles' death, Eureka visits Renton in his room where he laments not being able to do anything to save Charles as Holland killed him. Renton asks if it was his fault that Charles died, saying that "Maybe, if I hadn't mentioned Eureka or the Nirvash back then, I would still be with Charles and Ray." Hurt because of her role in what happened, Eureka doesn't know how to comfort Renton, only suggesting that they visit Nirvash together.

The Nirvash appears to have suffered some damage and has shed its armor, but Renton and Eureka have said that Nirvash wants to grow up, rather than being hurt. They talk about how Nirvash must have been scared before Renton discovers Charles' ring in the distance. Eureka then muses aloud that she doesn't think anything will end at this rate, but she doesn't know what to do. She asks Renton what he thinks she should do, and he says that she should rest since she and the Nirvash are tired. (Eureka talks about not being able to sleep well, since she hasn't been hearing everyone's voices which Renton comments that a new hat might help with it, but I do not understand why this comes up or who even she isn't hearing. Still, it is the reason why Eureka asks Hilda about a new hat later on.)

With that, Eureka goes to get medicine to help sleep from Mischa, saying that she and Nirvash can't sleep, and Talho walks out of the infirmary when she hears Renton went to visit Holland. While alone, she lingers on her scars before Hilda ushers the children in. Maeter and Linck cry and rush to her when she calls to them, but Maurice does not with a conflicted expression.

Suddenly, a song starts to play on every station, and Ray begins an attack on the Gekkostate. Renton uses Nirvash to broadcast a signal to her, pleading for her to stop before he will have to kill her himself as he is determined to honor his promise with Charles and protect Eureka. Matthieu eventually notices a disturbance in the sound which helps to locate the KLFs that Ray is piloting. However, when they have been shot down, the truth of her plan is revealed: She tries to ram the Swan into the Gekko in a kamikaze attack. Ray accuses Eureka of stealing her future, so she will steal Eureka's future in turn, calling Eureka a monster. The Swan is shot down at the cost of the 909, and Holland is injured badly once more.

After Renton helps Holland with a blood transfusion, he complains that everyone is selfishly doing whatever they want without telling him the truth. "If they just told me, I'd be able to help them. I'd be able to support them. But, in the end, I can't do anything for them. I can't do anything for them, and I can't help them." Eureka says that she believes in Renton, so she wants to hear everything about him, and he says that he would like to hear about Eureka, too. She immediately becomes uncomfortable and scared at the thought, though.

+ . . . lol talking to be helped lol . . .

40. Cosmic Trigger
Chestnut, Four uses. X

In order to move forward with their new mission, Gekkostate lands near a Vodarac shrine on the outskirts of the Great Wall. Renton and the children meet with Tiptory, while Eureka stays inside with Talho, refusing to see her. While Eureka hesitates because of the fact that she isn't human, Talho assures her that her race doesn't have anything to do with it. "Go meet the Vodarek people as another inhabitant of the same planet. The same way that Renton met you," is Talho's advice. However, Eureka remains intractable on the issue.

As Eureka passes the time with Talho, she questions why beings exist in the world which Talho, appropriately, calls a tough question. Still, she says that Eureka shouldn't think of the world and the beings in it as separate things; the world is made up of beings, and beings make up the world. Talho pats her stomach, saying that her child is teaching her that, and Eureka asks if she is happy that she's going to have a family. Talho replies that she will have two children, since Holland is like a child himself, and goes on to say that Renton is like a child, too. Eureka bristles at this, sulking and denying that she's mad when she is, which only causes Talho to tease her more. Talho calls Eureka cute, and Eureka responds by throwing a pillow at Talho, starting a pillow fight between the two of them. The fun is quickly broken up by Mischa coming to find Talho since she missed lunch, and Mischa chides Talho that her body is not her own anymore since she is pregnant. Eureka says that humans are amazing, since they can keep a separate life within them to which Mischa explains that as something that Eureka has the ability to do as well.

Finally, Eureka joins the rest of the group with Mischa and Talho, but she quickly turns to leave when her appearance shocks the others. Tiptory traces the scars on her cheek, realizing what path Eureka choose and the pain she suffered for it, which causes Eureka to burst into tears. Watching this exchange, Renton asks Holland what is going to happen to them, and Holland explains that they will infiltrate the shrine in order to meet with Sakuya in the hopes of finding a way to save the world. Once they meet with Sakuya, if everything is decided, then everything will begin to move according to Norb. However, he warns that Eureka and Renton may not return upon beginning this journey.

In order to sneak into the shrine, the crew dresses up as pilgrims while taking part in the Love Parade, hiding the LFOs as offering floats. However, the children hiding inside of Nirvash accidentally reveal it to the gathered crowds which causes alarm among all the worshipers who recognize the "White Devil". Holland and the others stay behind to hold off any pursuers, while Eureka and the others enter the shrine. As they journey further into the shrine, they pass many corpses along the way who are the people who died trying to fuse with a Compac Drive in order to open Sakuya's heart. Norb, however, is able to open the path down into the inner part of the shrine with the Compac Drive in his chest. Once they reach the lower levels, Norb explains that there is no Trapar in the underground vault as it is toxic to Sakuya, so Eureka and the others can't be harmed here. Eventually, they arrive at a pool of water. Peering into the darkness, Eureka senses Sakuya before a giant lotus flower is revealed to the group.

+ Oh, wow, we have some revelations! There is the big buzz word, Coralian, in there!
+ Sakuya is also a Coralian, and she is also revered as a saint by the Vodarac.
+ There is a nebulous end goal of saving the world that appears, too.
+ Talho is pregnant, oooh . . .
idkmybffnirvash: (all that glitters is gold.)
2. AO: Call It What You Want
Purple necco wafer.

When Ao is around two, Eureka dyes her hair brown in order to draw less attention to herself. He cries when he sees it, desperately calling after his Anma, but Eureka only quietly apologizes to him.

With all memories of this time, there are instances of vandalism to the medical clinic that Eureka and Ao were staying at with Dr. Fukai, because the people of the island did not approve of his harboring Eureka. So, coming home to broken glass and spray painting was a regular part of daily life . . . Yeah . . .

+ So, that is Eureka's fifth child, her son, Ao.
+ Except he did not tell her that she was his mother, so he should be slapped for being a bad boy.
+ Oh, and she has a bracelet that is connected to Nirvash, so he is around somewhere but cannot make a physical appearance for reasons . . .

15. Human Behavior
Edible ginger gear, Four uses.

When the show opens, Eureka isn't feeling well, absently replying to questions from the children. However, when Renton is given permission to go out in order to collect a rare and expensive fruit, Eureka asks to come along in order to fly with Nirvash. She spends an hour and a half putting the LFO through its paces and seems to struggle with her splintering connection with Nirvash.

Eventually, Renton, Eureka, and Matthieu arrive at Controrad, a familiar place from Renton's childhood that is covered in propaganda for the hero, Adrock Thurston. When they are caught by Renton's uncle who staunchly supports the government, Renton begins to spin a lie in order to cover for them. The lie continues to grow from Renton's boastful uncle who introduces Eureka as Renton's fiancee and an elite student which she pays little attention to. Eureka is focused upon leaving, not keeping pace with the situation at all.

However, when the military arrives to take Matthieu in custody and later Eureka, Renton's uncle is shown to be ultimately self-serving. In order to save Eureka and Matthieu, Renton pilots the Nirvash to fight off the government forces and steal the van that was transporting them away. Upon seeing Nirvash, Eureka becomes upset, though. She recognizes that Nirvash is behaving under the influence of Renton. When they return empty-handed, she continues to be frustrated by him, keeping him away from the Nirvash, while she refuses to get close to it as well.

9. Paper Moon Shine
Chocolate lips in red foil.

In order to release Miss Tiptory, Gekkostate arrives at Ciudades del Cielo which fills Eureka with anxiety as she recalls the past. In the midst of her remembrances, Eureka sees Renton rushing away and asks Holland about where he went. Holland apologizes which causes her to take off in the Nirvash to find him.

In time, Eureka lands in a camp of Vodarac followers, calling out for Renton. Immediately, the followers begin to hurl stones at her. As Renton rushes out to protect her, she acknowledges that the accusations that she was a dog of the military are true. This exchange is interrupted by sirens, and are told a routine bombing of the area is going to commence. Hiding away in a cave with the cave, Renton and Eureka talk about the skirmish with the followers. Eureka insists that nothing can be done about how they treated her, saying that it is only what she deserves. She goes on to explain her past with Holland and the Special Operation Forces, and Renton is shocked by the revelations before confronting Eureka with his view of her actions and motivations.

As Renton climbs Nirvash in order to stop the bombings, Nirvash responds by jerking forward, moving under its own power. Eureka is stunned, agreeing to go with Renton because Nirvash says that she should. Together, the two disable the ship conducting the bombing by destroying reflectors in order to limit their vision, rather than destroying the ship, which Holland recognizes as uncharacteristic of Eureka's piloting style. Renton talks with Eureka about the choices that she made in the past and today, saying that she hasn't changed, which Eureka tearfully denies. Later, in the hangar of the Gekkostate, she speaks with Nirvash, questioning if she truly has changed.

8. Glorious Brilliance
Jello mix.

While fawning over his cover of Ray=out, Renton asks Eureka if she thinks he looks cool. She doesn't understand the question and asks him in turn if he would like go shopping with her in town. When the group heads out, the Gekkostate discusses another questionable job . . . After doing a lot of shopping with Renton insisting on carrying the bags, Eureka arrives at the last items on the list, textbooks and notebooks, since "studying is important, supposedly". Maeter teases Renton about not studying and throwing up, asking if Eureka would like someone like that, before running off. Linck then starts teasing Renton who becomes fed up and begins to chase Linck around the street. Eureka notices that Maeter has been out of sight for too long and runs off to find her which causes Maurice and Linck to panic that everyone is going to leave them.

When Eureka returns without Maeter, Renton senses that she's upset, but Maeter calls out to them from a nearby house. Before rushing to her daughter, Eureka asks Renton what she should do to discipline her, and Renton uncertainly replies that a slap would fit. Accordingly, Eureka greets Maeter with a hard slap, telling her that everyone was worried. She then pets the crying girl and agrees to sit down to tea with the woman that found Maeter, Miss Tiptory.

Everyone enjoys the tea together until a bomb crashes into the room, failing to go off, thankfully. Holland and the crew of the Gekkostate appear to capture Tiptory as she is a high-ranking member of Vodarac who is wanted by the government and has a bounty on her head. Slipping through Gekkostate's fingers, Tiptory makes a quick exit on her scooter and is chased across the town by the crew. After capturing her, Eureka sense Renton's unease, asking if he's unhappy. Renton sullenly asks her how he can be happy with this. After her capture, Tiptory insists that the crew come have dinner at her home in order not to waste food which only makes Renton more upset with the situation and Eureka quietly watches him.

At the site of the exchange, Nirvash suddenly appears with with Renton dropping down to steal Tiptory away. They have a quick dogfight with the military which ends with Gekkostate soundly defeating them. As everyone returns back to the Gekkostate, the kids say that Eureka was cool while the crew discusses what to do with Tiptory. Afterwards, they muse over the changes occurring in the government, the reorganization of the military, the movement of troops, the mass production of compac drives, and the fact that Gekkostate is not public enemy number one yet . . . Shortly afterwards, Eureka passes out the workbooks to the children and to Renton as well, easily disarming him by saying he was cool and that the Nirvash laughs when he does.

Later on, when everyone is sleeping, Eureka quietly wonders why her head is hurting . . .

39. Join the Future
Small bone disk, Two uses.

In order to cross the Great Wall, Norb says that Renton and Eureka should play soccer. Holland believes in Norb's sage wisdom, so the unwilling Gekkostate is roped into a game. Eureka and Renton comment on how life is becoming stranger for them before Eureka explains that she has never played soccer. However, she thinks she will be able to learn if Renton helps her and asks if he will teach her which he is thrilled to do.

Though Norb is elusive in giving an answer on why the Gekkostate needs to play soccer, the game goes forward. Renton does well during practice, and Eureka is touched by his skill and confidence. However, as Renton gets bested by Moondoggie, he becomes more obsessed with doing well and also reveals that he is unable to pass. Eureka, on the other hands, shows that she is quite skilled in the game, and tells Renton not to bring the team down.

When a professional team appears to challenge the Gekkostate, Eureka apologizes to Renton for her remark, saying that she will do her best to cover for him. The opposing team proceeds to mop the floor with the Gekkostate, making them determined to score a point against them. Eureka tells Renton that she believes in him, and he is able to make a pass with her encouragement. Eventually, the two use Holland's face as a platform to score a flying goal together before the Gekkostate has to quickly leave when the military arrives. Holland punishes the two by making them clean the hangar, and Renton asks about her comment before. Eureka explains that she believes in him, because when it's important, Renton always pulls off a miracle . . .

+ Gidget, Moondoggie, Stoner are named.
+ Oh, Renton is actually cute for once, and someone who Eureka believed in . . . Meh.
+ SHE PLAYED SOCCER AND HELPED SCORE A POINT, THOUGH!!!
+ Wow, people get mad if you jump on their face . . .

43. The Sunshine Underground
A purple feather, Unlimited but the memory fades with time.

Eureka, Renton, Maurice, Maeter, and Linck have crashed onto a strange beach with the Nirvash. As they look around, they're confused by the scene since they are underground but are able to see a sky. While the children begin to fret over the rest of the Gekkostate, Eureka calms them by telling them that they have to do something. Renton questions what they are meant to be doing, but Eureka is unable to answer him. She doesn't know what they are supposed to do, only that there is something.

While resting, Maurice uncovers a book that was left in the Nirvash. As they read, they discover the large body of salty water before them is an ocean, an unfamiliar and strange sight. Renton quickly realizes that the True Promised Land they have arrived at is truly Earth, a planet that humanity was thought to have left behind many years ago. However, this revelation is diminished with the group's present struggle. While they are uncertain of what to do, they have run out of food and water while struggling to survive in foreign place. Naturally, tensions begin to rise, especially between Renton and Eureka as he constantly questions what they are meant to do. As they try to climb a cliff in order to do something, the Nirvash ends up falling from a height and becoming damaged. As night falls, Eureka comes to check up on him and Nirvash.

Eureka: How is it?
Renton: Nothing seems to be broken.
Eureka: Why is Nirvash in such a bad shape?
Renton: I don't know.
Eureka: Why not? You're a mechanic, right?
Renton: Then, why don't you ask it? You can understand its feelings, right?

With that, Eureka walks away. Once she's away from Renton, she checks her arm and is stricken when she sees neon green boils blooming across her skin.

❀ 12. Acperience 1
A purple candy pencil, Three times. Hidden away as part of a quest.

Immediately, the memory opens with Eureka, Renton, and Nirvash in the middle of combat with theEND, a black LFO that looks similar to Nirvash. The pilot taunts the trio before eventually capturing them and unleashing a painful close-quarters barrage. Renton buckles under the agony and begins to pull the compac drive from its socket while crazed with fear. The image scares Eureka, calling back to a past memory, and she quickly keeps him from dislocating the drive. Responding to the united fear in the children, Nirvash repels theEND of its own accord and enters the zone.

While in the zone, Eureka is separated from Renton, and the two have to find a way to each other. Rather, Renton has a bizarre dream that features familiar settings with veiled implications and significant imagery, while Eureka appears to talk to someone who "has the same face" and asks after Renton. Eventually, Eureka finds her way into Renton's dream and continues to search for him within the space, rescuing him from Anemone. Renton spots his sister, Diane, in the distance before she suddenly disappears, while Eureka calls to Renton. In a golden pool of light, she invites him to go back with her.

With this, the dream ends causing the trapar density that was incredibly difficult to navigate before to fall to more manageable levels with the Nirvash and theEND at the center of another bloom of salt. However, Eureka is unconscious by this point.

❀ 20. Substance Abuse
Amethyst cloth mask.

Eureka is unconscious for the entire episode, able to breathe and the like with life-support equipment, while she is encased in scub coral. Naturally, she doesn't remember anything from this memory.
idkmybffnirvash: (what is personal space?)
❀ 34. Holland
A dog's tooth on a thong, Three times. X

This memory covers around six years worth of time where Eureka was with the military. After Adrock's disappearance, she isolates herself and refuses contact until Dewey introduces Holland to her. Holland becomes her handler, so her contact with others is limited to Holland and, on occasion, Dewey. She gets the bulk of her skills from this period as she is trained as a soldier for the SOF, Special Operations Force, a rather elite division. She is also used as a means of testing out and training other soldiers in using the newly mass-produced LFOs for combat. At some point, she was also culled for biological samples to start a program to produce beings similar to her. Eureka is given her necklace at this time as well.

However, she is largely unemotional and uncommunicative, only responding to Holland as much as necessary, so there isn't much that truly grabs her within the memory.

❀ 14. AO: Starfire
Chunk of ice with a frozen aurora inside, Unlimited.

Eureka and Ao inside of their respective Nirvashes try to hold off Truth, until Ao reveals to Eureka that entering a pillar of light in the distance will allow her to return home since Scub and Secrets emerge from it. As they fly towards it, Truth is mistakenly stopped from attacking Eureka by Elena. Later, the Japanese Allied Forces also begin to fire at Eureka, causing her to wonder, "Why are they all hurting us?" Seemingly in response to Eureka's worry, Nirvash ejects Eureka, going off to fight Truth and draw fire away from Eureka. Ao quickly catches her in mid-air in his own Nirvash.

While Eureka is in Ao's cockpit, he questions why she bailed out but she denies it, explaining that Nirvash can move on its own because it has "something like me" inside of it. Nirvash quickly sends Truth to the bottom of the ocean, sacrificing itself in the process. However, a Secret appears from the pillar of light and begins to attack Ao's Nirvash, leaving the way unclear once more. Eureka quickly unlocks more weaponry on the Nirvash that had previously been inaccessible to Ao and others before. With this, Ao is able to quickly defeat the Secret and draw close enough to the pillar in order to let Eureka pass through it.

As Eureka goes to leave, she asks Ao why he called her mother. Ao blushes before telling her that he hopes she gives birth to a healthy baby boy. Eureka laughs and says that the doctors said her child would be a girl. With that, she flies off, sprouting butterfly-like wings from her back, and sailing towards a heavily-damaged skeletal husk of Nirvash.

+ The differences between Nirvash Type-Zero and Nirvash NEO are markedly apparent. NEO does not have an archetype, a living soul like Type-Zero, while it does have immense fire power which was a distinct difference from it and all other LFOs.
+ Eureka is older, pregnant, and a fully-realized Coralian which are all really new and different for her . . .
+ Time travel is not mentioned in this episode, but Eureka is clearly moving around in space.
+ Renton is not mentioned, either.
+ But, really, why does everyone have to attack Eureka?
idkmybffnirvash: (the world's burning down.)
❀ 4. Watermelon
A loaf of bread.

Nirvash has been feeling better around Renton, so Mischa runs some tests while Eureka is piloting the Nirvash with Renton. During the test, Renton complains about the picture on the screen, but Eureka tells him that he will eventually adapt to it. When they finish, Eureka praises Nirvash, then she speaks with Renton, "He's saying that it was really fun flying with you today. He hardly ever says anything like that, because he's really moody. Besides, I had fun as well. I wish I could pilot him feeling like this all of the time. It would be great if I could feel this way every time I ride the waves."

Holland calls the crew together to tell them all that the Gekkostate is broke. With that, he decides to hold a contest for everyone to propose ideas for how to make money. Whoever comes up with the best idea will get a kiss from Talho. Hap takes on a smuggling job for Gekkostate, shooting down Renton's idea to go to a lifting contest, even though it involves slipping past a high security military base. While on the job, the group comes across the eruption of a geyser and have a lot of fun doing some lifting with great waves.

+ This episode serves as an introduction to the Gekkostate for Renton and the audience. For Eureka, it is a day in the life, though.
+ It does establish the code of conduct, as it were, for the Gekkostate. They don't lift for money, they support themselves through questionable means, and so on.
+ Everyone in the Gekkostate loves to lift, and Eureka enjoys being able to share nice feelings with Nirvash, uwah.
+ Mater, Maurice, and Linck appear heavily in this episode, but they are not named. She spends a lot of her time with these children.
+ Mischa also makes a notable appearance.

❀ 23. Differentia
A small heart.

When the episode returns to the Gekkostate, Eureka and Mischa have a short but unusual exchange while Mischa checks Eureka's vitals. In loose order, Eureka is finally allowed to leave the sick bay, instructed to stay away from the hangar, asks how Renton is doing, and finally asks what love is to Mischa's great surprise.

After the older crew members have a discussion over this development, Holland runs into Eureka who asks after Renton, wanting to go see him. Quickly, Holland comes up with a lie that Renton is out shopping for a few days with Hilda and Talho. The rest of the crew perpetuates the lie with Hilda and Talho hiding while Hap covers for Holland while everyone waits for him to break the news of Renton's disappearance. Unfortunately, Hilda slips up and runs into Eureka while she makes a run for the bathroom. Eureka's face lights up when she sees her, immediately asking for Renton.

Uncertain what to do now, the crew has another discussion over the situation until Holland blows up at them. He storms off to finally confront Eureka with the truth. She is understandably confused, questioning Holland, "What? Why? Why did Renton leave? Did he leave because I was mean to him? Holland, that's how it is, isn't it? It's my fault, right? Answer me!" Without waiting, Eureka rushes to Renton's room, realizing that he is gone. As she holds onto his sweat suit, she quietly says that she wants to see him.

+ Oh, Mater and Linck are happy enough to sing when they are around Eureka. Her children are the cutest, fight me . . .
+ Eureka already has the following episode which ruins the surprise, but she is going to wonder if it truly was her fault that he left. Oh, no.
+ Love, huh? . . . Eh, it can't be important.
